Hello Todd! I have been researching affiliate marketing and found your ebook to be very informative and helpful. I also read some of your articles and watched a couple of videos and they too shed a lot of light on becoming an affiliate. I’d like to start a website for plush items (from stuffed animals, toys, pillows, and those fuzzy dice thingies that hang from your car’s rear-view mirror) but I am starting from Square 1. I did secure a domain name but not quite ready to publish my website. The reason why I haven’t published my website is because I haven’t joined any Affiliate networks like Share-a-Sale. The reason why I haven’t joined Share-a-Sale is because first, you need a live website. I’ve read Share-a-Sale merchants usually won’t approve “Under Construction” websites. What can I do to boost my chances of being approved by affiliate programs like Share-a-Sale?
Hi Anna -
Great question! (I may have to make a video about this one.
First – Join shareasale now. http://webcid.com/shareasale
(that’s my affiliate link. I get a big $1 if you use it!)
Second – Some merchants are on “auto approve”, meaning they will approve you without looking at a non-existant site. So, you can get started with some merchants.
That said…
I would highly recommend you start by building out some content before you apply to individual programs. (There’s no need to wait to join ShareASale, but you may want to have an operational site before applying to specific merchants that manually approve affiliates.)
You can easily create a simple WordPress Site that can get you started, without a single affiliate ad on it. (If you’re not a member of AffPlan, please join for free, as I have a few videos here that should help you through the process.)
If I can help you any further, please let me know.
Best of luck!
-Todd
Hi Todd, thanks for the fast reply!! Yes, I did join AffPlan and saw the video regarding domain names and installing WordPress. Great tutorial, by the way! I actually signed up for web hosting at Volusion (before seeing your video) and I’m in the process of “feeling” my way through their templates. I’m thinking it might be worthwhile to switch over to Bluehost or the other one you mentioned in your video once I have merchants. I’ll sign up for Share-a-Sale through your link! Thanks for your help…I’ll be back!
Interesting topics about affiliate marketing Todd, you are pretty much covering from A to Z, great job man, keep it up!
I have opened an account with ClickBank and I have downloaded the Affiliate Masters Course e-book as well as the SiteSell e-book. I am just looking for some helpful advice on how to get started and some tips on how to be successful with it.
Like this site.
Think becoming a good affiliate, besides trying to be smart is also about working hard with persistance, it will take some time before becoming succesful.
Last 3 months I’ve spend quite some time after office hours….but hey, I like doing it !
Robert.
Your phrase above “Where do you fit in Affiliate Marketing” could have been written about me. I have been in AM for about 15 months made $300 and spent “loads” and feel a bit lost and direction-less.
I would be pleased to get any help to get me moving in the right direction, any suggestions?
Regards
Russ
